founder story
“Reach St. Pete was born from a place of personal experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those in need. During my high school years, I found myself moving from one couch to another, without a stable place to call home. Fortunately, a family welcomed me into their home during my moment of greatest need. Growing up in a family grappling with drug abuse and financial hardships- I intimately understood how difficult and dark life can feel.
I often felt like I didn’t quite "fit in" with the resources available to people in need and that is the lens in which we operate from at Reach St.Pete. Creating a safe, welcoming, dignified experience so it doesn’t feel degrading to receive help.
In November 2019, I took a leap of faith, leaving my corporate job to fully dedicate myself to Reach St. Pete, thanks to the support of our first seed funder. I entered the nonprofit world with no prior experience, but with a clear understanding of my why.
But this organization is so much bigger than me—it's about our incredible community. It's the thousands of volunteers, donors, community partners, staff, board of directors, and advocates who make all of this possible.”
